Fairfield is underrated, change my mind

I'm a 33-year-old nurse and Homes are going for about $592,500 on average. Rent is about $2,191/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider — Fairfield sits at 373.4 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
