Life in Fairfield as a young professional

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 20s, and Average temperature is around 59°F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 120K, Fairfield is a mid-size city. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,191/month for a decent place. It's a a mid-size city city with about 120K people. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown

The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I've lived in North for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The cultural scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..
