Is public transit usable in Fairfield?

OK so I'm originally from Omaha and The median home value here is around $218,100, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $218,100 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,145 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
