I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $87,924, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Fairland sits at 593.4 per 100K. With a population of 26,183, Fairland is a smaller city. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.
No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2017 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
