Moving to Fairland with kids -good idea?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 31-year-old firefighter and The median home value here is around $440,800, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. With a population of 26,183, Fairland is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Fairland sits at 593.4 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
