Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Rent is about $717/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $168,800, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
