Fairmount in the winter -how bad?

First post here. I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $772,600 on average. Household incomes average around $163,785 in Fairmount. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do?

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 13 years. Moved from San Francisco for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Road conditions need improvement. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to LA it's excellent.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
