Worst things about Fairmount Heights nobody talks about

So, I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $92,321, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $335,200 on average. It's a a small town city with about 1,429 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The weather is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
