Rent in Fairview getting crazy

Random thought, With a population of 10,033, Fairview is a small town. Is this normal for Fairview?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Atlanta it's hit or miss.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 4 years. Moved from Charlotte for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in West for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2024 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.
