Rent in Fairview getting crazy

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 0.6%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I overthinking this?

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in East area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Downtown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The nightlife scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 24, moved here 7 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Pine Hills and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Property taxes are high
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
