Anyone regret moving to Fairview CDP (Dutchess County)?

It's a a small town city with about 6,454 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Fairview CDP (Dutchess County) sits at 890.2 per 100K. Household incomes average around $84,759 in Fairview CDP (Dutchess County). Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 10 years. Moved from Austin for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Dating scene is rough. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Riverside area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Came here for school and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The public transit is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Portland about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..
