Healthcare options in Fairview CDP (Westchester County)?
Random thought, I'm originally from Houston and Crime rate is something to consider -Fairview CDP (Westchester County) sits at 180.7 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 11.5%, which is concerning. With a population of 3,522, Fairview CDP (Westchester County) is a small town. Poverty rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Westside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 8 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Eastside and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cultural scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
