Unpopular opinion about Fairview

OK so Rent is about $1,156/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Southern places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Downtown area are underrated. Kids love it here.
