Career opportunities in Fairview Shores, FL

Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $315,200 on average. Median household income is $61,387, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $61,387 in Fairview Shores. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 53, moved here 9 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The cost of living situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
