Is Fairview walkable?

The median home value here is around $354,900, which seems about average. Median household income is $88,333, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 33, moved here 13 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Springfield and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The housing market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.

No regrets on my end..
