Is it worth buying in Fairwood CDP (King County)?

So, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $658,000, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $119,013, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 18,437, Fairwood CDP (King County) is a small town. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Would love some local perspective. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
