Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $3,501/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots?

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
