Hi all, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 79--F, so it's warm year-round. The median home value here is around $118,400, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.
