Been living here since 2019. With a population of 93,764, Fall River is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Fall River sits at 867.9 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely better than expected and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Riverside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 56, moved here 6 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Downtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Moved here from LA about 12 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to nightlife but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 11 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 11 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 2 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
