Is Fallbrook worth moving to in 2026?

First post here. I'm a college student here and It's a a smaller city city with about 32,467 people. Rent is about $1,675/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
