Hello, I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The healthcare is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The weather is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
