Just moved to Fargo from Phoenix — first impressions

We made the move 2 ago and here are my first impressions:

People are genuinely friendly here. Rent runs about $916/month for a typical apartment. Weather is moderate — about 45F average.

Biggest surprise: How friendly the neighbors are
Biggest disappointment: Nightlife is limited

Overall, there are worse places to be.

My kids love it here. So many parks and activities. The local food is incredible.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Pine Grove. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Coming from Atlanta, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 9/10.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Midtown and Lakewood are perfectly safe.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is check out the local Facebook groups for neighborhood info. Makes a big difference.

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.

I've lived in Maple Heights for 8 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

The job market has been improving lately. Several manufacturing companies moved in recently.
