Hey, I'm single, late 50s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Farmers Branch sits at 150.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $322,000, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,820 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I'm a chef and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in education here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is better than expected. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
