Cost of living reality check -Farmington

Hi all, We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Farmington sits at 51.4 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in North area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Eastside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The dating scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Moved here from Phoenix about 2 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to walkability but No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Minneapolis it's underrated.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a data analyst and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
