Moving from Orlando to Farmington next month

I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $118,556 in Farmington. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Appreciate any input. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 7 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited high-paying job options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in Highland for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Minneapolis about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
