Most overrated things about Farmington

First post here. I'm retired and Rent is about $856/month for a decent place. With a population of 17,999, Farmington is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 17,999 people. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Good schools
- Low taxes
- Active local events

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Am I wrong here? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much pricey but now it's better than expected.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Austin it's pretty good.
