Why I chose Farmington over bigger cities

Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 12.9%, which is around average. You can expect to pay around $993 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 12 years. Moved from Raleigh for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
