I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $826/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $826 for rent here. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Charlotte about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Sunset area are average. Kids love it here.
