Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $59,074 in Fayetteville. Poverty rate is 10.7%, which is around average. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to San Francisco it's improving.

I've lived in Midtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
