Rent vs buy in Fayetteville -what makes sense?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 97,227, Fayetteville is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 97,227 people. Rent is about $1,003/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $322,500, which seems about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Friendly people
- Low taxes
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Boring for young people
- Homelessness issues downtown
There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
