Is Fayetteville still affordable?

Hey folks, Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 19,364 people. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $331,700, which seems about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
- The housing market scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.
