Remote worker thinking about Fayetteville

We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,179/month for a decent place. Median household income is $56,395, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $56,395 in Fayetteville. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 36, moved here 14 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Sunset and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Can feel isolated
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
