Rent vs buy in Fayetteville — what makes sense?

We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider — Fayetteville sits at 875.4 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Fayetteville?
