What to expect moving to Fayetteville?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
