Random thought, I'm a 22-year-old lawyer and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $57,957 in Federal Heights. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Is this normal for Federal Heights? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 42, moved here 5 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 13 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
