Is Fenton a good place to live?

Hello, Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Should I be concerned?

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Chicago about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 37, moved here 8 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Greenfield and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The walkability situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 37, moved here 15 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Pine Hills and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**

2. Limited shopping options
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
