Fernandina Beach quality of life -am I missing something?

So, We have two kids and Household incomes average around $92,535 in Fernandina Beach. Median household income is $92,535, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. TIA!

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 37, moved here 11 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Nashville about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
