Best restaurants in Ferndale?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 40s, and Rent is about $1,708/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,708 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $92,391, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $325,400, which seems about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The food scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
