Hey everyone, It's a a small town city with about 1,537 people. The median home value here is around $81,600, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been here 4 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Lakewood area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Moved here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to walkability but Would recommend to anyone considering it..
