Pros and cons of Ferry Pass after 1 years

Been meaning to ask this. Rent is about $1,322/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $64,368 in Ferry Pass. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The safety is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 54, moved here 15 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Uptown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
