Fillmore in the winter -how bad?

So, Median household income is $90,343, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,799 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in finance here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The school system is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 15 years. Moved from Boston for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is improving - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Nightlife is limited. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
