Freelancing from Fillmore -experience?

Hey everyone, I'm retired and Homes are going for about $567,500 on average. Rent is about $1,799/month for a decent place. Median household income is $90,343, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Any advice would be great. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely solid and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
