First post here. I'm originally from Omaha and Poverty rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $567,500 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Downtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is solid
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
