Is it worth buying in Fishers?

We have two kids and Household incomes average around $128,141 in Fishers. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,491/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thanks for reading. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Highland) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
