So, Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 29, moved here 8 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The school system situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 26, moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Old Town and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The job market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Atlanta it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Portland about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
