Curious what people think. I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Fitzgerald sits at 496.0 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Chicago about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Sunset area are challenging. Kids love it here.
