Worst things about Five Corners nobody talks about

Anyone else feel this way? Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I work in hospitality here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is average. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Eastside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 30, moved here 11 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Highland and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The community vibe situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
