Things Five Forks needs to improve

Hey, I'm originally from Charlotte and Homes are going for about $424,600 on average. The median home value here is around $424,600, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Boston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
