Hi all, Rent is about $1,581/month for a decent place. Median household income is $81,193, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Worth the trade-offs? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 6 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.
