Housing market in Flint right now

Random thought, I'm originally from Cleveland and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? Appreciate any input.

Moved here from Atlanta about 11 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to housing market but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 4 years. Moved from Raleigh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is tough - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Road conditions need improvement. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
